A Marvel director thinks Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp should be the one to lead an all-female Avengers movie in the future.

Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed says it’s time for Lilly’s character to come to the forefront of the screen after her successful starring role in the recent film.

Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyme became the ‘Wasp’ for the first time in Ant-Man and the Wasp, after Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang goes on the run after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

“I’d like her running things,” Reed told the Huffington Post. “I’d like to see her as the head of the all-female Avengers.

“I know Evangeline sort of said, maybe, that would be Captain Marvel, because she does have the word ‘captain’ in her name,” he continued. “But I think Hope van Dyne is a very decisive leader and a tactician, in addition to being a brilliant scientist.”

“She checks a lot of boxes in terms of who’s going to be running the Avengers, theoretically,” he added.

Earlier this year, Brie Larson revealed some of the intense training she had to do in preparation for starring in the forthcoming Captain Marvel.

The actor has been confirmed to play the titular role, also known as Carol Danvers, in the upcoming standalone Marvel movie. She will also appear in Avengers 4.

Speaking to Variety, Larson said she couldn’t reveal much about the part, but did explain what she had learned about herself from it. “I will say that I learned that I’m much stronger than I realise in playing her,” she said.

The star trained for nine months to increase her physical strength before beginning filming the movie, including some heavy weightlifting. “My highest right now is 215 lbs. in deadlifts [and] 400 lb. hip thrusts,” she said. “Being able to lift weight like that really changed my perspective and understanding of myself.”

Lost creators and executive producers issued an apology to Evangeline Lilly after she revealed in an interview how she felt “cornered” doing partially nude scenes on set.

J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse issued a joint statement apology for the alleged problems on the mystery drama, which ran on ABC from 2004-2010.

“Our response to Evie’s comments in the media was to immediately reach out to her to profoundly apologize for the experience she detailed while working on Lost,” the statement reads first reported by Deadline. “We have not yet connected with her, but remain deeply and sincerely sorry. No person should ever feel unsafe at work. Period.”

Lilly, who is currently promoting her lead role in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp, claimed in a recent podcast interview that she felt “mortified and [was] trembling” after filming a specific Lost scene.

“In season 3, I’d had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter,” Lilly said. “And I was mortified and I was trembling and when it finished, I was crying my eyes out and I had to go on do a very formidable, very strong scene thereafter.

She added a similar situation happened once more in season 4.

“Another scene came up where Kate was undressing and I fought very hard to have that scene be under my control and I failed to control it again. And so I then said, ‘That’s it, no more. You can write whatever you want — I won’t do it. I will never take my clothes off on this show again,’ and I didn’t,” she said.

Lilly went on to say that she believes she would handle those situations differently now that she is older and wiser.

“I’ve been doing this for nearly 15 years, so I kind of know the ropes,” Lilly said. “I’m a little bit better equipped now to not have uncomfortable experiences come up.”

She later said that she passes altogether on roles that call for nudity.

“It’s not because I think there’s anything wrong with nudity,” she clarified. “It’s because I don’t trust that I can be comfortable and safe.”

“I’m lucky. I’m in a position — a very privileged position — where I’m allowed to be picky,” Lilly added. “I can be picky. I’ve got enough success under my belt that I can be, and I feel for women who are just struggling to come up in the industry and don’t really know how to navigate that.”

Evangeline Lilly, who last appeared in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, has been bitten by an actual wasp. She uploaded the video on her Twitter handle saying she had been on a press tour boasting that she’s never been “bitten” by a wasp.

Evangeline Lilly, who played the role of superhero Wasp in Disney-Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, got stung by an actual wasp recently. The irony is not lost on the actress, who is also known for the ABC TV series Lost and Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, as she said on a video she uploaded on Twitter that she had been on a press tour boasting that she’s never been “bitten” by a wasp. Spoke too soon?

Evangeline showed the swelling on her arm as a result of the sting and says she applied toothpaste on the swelling. She looked almost excited as she dropped the bomb. “So, I’ve got my first wasp bite,” she is seen saying in the video. “Which is ironic since I’ve been on a press tour saying I’ve never been bitten by a wasp and have a great relationship with wasps,” she added.

She further added that after she applied toothpaste on the stung area (her wrist), the swelling just shifted lower on her arm. “It’s tripping me out. Anyway, it’s ridiculous. I just got a wasp bite. The Wasp just got bitten by a wasp.”

Meanwhile, Ant-Man and the Wasp received highly positive reviews and holds a better score at Rotten Tomatoes than Avengers: Infinity War (87% as opposed to Infinity War’s 83%). The consensus reads, “A lighter, brighter superhero movie powered by the effortless charisma of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man and The Wasp offers a much-needed MCU palate cleanser.”

In Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope van Dyne (the real identity of Lilly’s character in the film) and Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) team up to fight the new threat of a mysterious entity called Ghost and also help Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym to bring his wife back from the quantum realm.
